Orla trained as a stenographer in Dublin, working in courtrooms and the High Court before spending 15 years at the BBC as a broadcast captioner and management team member. She specialised in delivering high-quality live captions for a wide range of programming, including comedy, drama, music festivals, and sports.

Recognising the gap in accessible event support, Orla founded MyClearText to provide expert live real-time captioning for meetings, events, and conferences—both in-room and online—with full technical support.

She also co-founded AccessLOOP, a platform delivering overlaid, closed, and multi-language captions to any event platform, bridging the gap in event accessibility.

In 2023, Orla launched Accessible All Areas with Catherine Grinyer, offering workshops that empower event professionals to prioritise accessibility from the planning stage.

Orla is dedicated to driving industry change, ensuring every event is fully accessible to all.
