Neil Hudson-Basing

Events Manager, We Create Space

Neil Hudson-Basing (he/him) is an experienced events & project manager, emcee, educator and public speaker amongst other things. Neil is no stranger to Micebook having hosted EXPO and the awards last year. He is currently an Events Manager for We Create Space.

A talented communicator, Neil comes with almost 20 years experience in the events industry with a real passion for bringing audiences together. He is a big believer in the power of storytelling in creating engaging content and valuable, impactful shared experiences for audiences and speakers.

As an event emcee, Neil prides himself on being just that - himself. Energetic, friendly and down to earth with a warm confidence and authenticity that lets attendees know that they're in extremely capable hands!

Having worked in an academic institution for over 10 years where there’s a tendency to take an overly formal approach, Neil has thrived in the ability to disrupt assumptions about events, and how events should be hosted, while still delivering required aims and objectives. His style and approach boasts a diverse way of thinking, an inclusive mentality and warmth in abundance. Alongside an insistence on respect, fairness and dignity.

His experience includes hosting academic conferences, topical debates & panel discussions, award ceremonies & celebratory events, small meetings, town halls & focus groups, training sessions and more including Pride events such as UK Black Pride.

Socially aware & compassionate, Neil isn’t afraid to shake things up or to shy away from sensitive, personal & heated issues. He's delivered and hosted events covering a number of hard-hitting & sensitive topics including violence against women & girls, racism, sustainability, inclusion, redundancies, LGTBQ+ rights, menopause and social work. He views it as a responsibility of an emcee to embrace debate and discomfort in a calm & objective manner when it comes to challenging topics; and that creating safe spaces to do so is often the way to change hearts & minds.

This work has led to him being a sought after speaker on a variety of issues, including male allyship, particularly in relation to the menopause and creating safe spaces. And as someone who considers himself a proud, involved part of the queer community, he has delivered workshops, featured on panels & podcasts and written a number of articles about LGBTQ+ inclusion; in the events sector and more generally.

Sober inclusion is another area where Neil places a lot of enthusiasm and time. In 2022, he co-launched London’s newest alcohol and drug-free clubbing event called The House of Happiness, a queer led & delivered venture, and you can find them over on Instagram @houseofhappinessofficial. The event was recently named as Cosmopolitan's Number One sober event in London. Neil never shies away from talking about how his life is infinitely happier since taking a break from alcohol and the lack of LGBTQ+ sober spaces spurred him on to create something meaningful for the community.

He is staunchly advocates for volunteering, and the benefits of doing so, and has supported a number of organisations, charities and initiatives over the last few years including Shelter, Soho Angels, Queer Britain, Naomi’s Garden and Let’s Talk Menopause.

Neil is also a keen runner, clothes enthusiast and can often be found in the gym, a dancefloor or a protest.
