Why Deaf Awareness Training is Essential for Every Business

Are you ready to make your business more inclusive and accessible? FeelHear is exhibiting at International Confex 2025 – Stand A32C, where we're showcasing how Deaf Awareness Training can transform workplaces.

Although hearing loss affects 1 in 3 adults, there remains a significant lack of deaf awareness and confidence in basic communication.

  • There are 18 million D/deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in the UK.
  • The UK economy loses £25 billion per year in productivity and unemployment due to hearing loss.
  • 41% of D/deaf employees retire early due to workplace communication challenges.

The British Sign Language (BSL) Act was passed in 2002, yet there remains a considerable gap between the D/deaf and hearing communities. Our mission at FeelHear is to bridge that gap through education and awareness.

How can your business improve deaf awareness?

We offer a fun, interactive, and engaging 1-hour Deaf Awareness Workshop that helps businesses create a more inclusive workplace while supporting their Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) commitments.

Could your team add a workshop to a team meeting, a lunch and learn session, or an away day? FeelHear delivers training in-person, online, and hybrid, but face-to-face is our preferred method as it enhances engagement and learning.

Workshop Aims:
  • Remove barriers to communication.
  • Gain a better understanding of the D/deaf world and preferred communication methods.
  • Learn about your legal responsibilities under the BSL Act 2002.
  • Have fun while learning the BSL alphabet and essential communication tips.
